Alright guys, I've been dormant for a while thanks to school. But school is almost over for the semester, and my girlfriend's father is in a pickle. The TCC switch on his 99 montana is apparently faulty. I understand that these are 4t65e transmissions, and the TCC switch is located in the valve body. Anyone have access to alldata or similar to grab the procedure for replacement? I'm betting the transmission needs to be either removed or *dang* near close to it to finish this job. From sporadic internet searching, I almost understand that there's a cover on the drivers side of the trans that needs to be removed, which probably means everything needs removed.

Take a look through this thread: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5832&hilit=since+everyone&start=60

You have to drop the subframe enough to get the sidecover off.

That helps. In the valve body picture, ordered from top to bottom, is the TCC solenoid number 1, 2, or 3 down?

Shift solenoids use the yellow connectors, pressure control solenoid uses the gray connector, and TCC solenoid uses the blue connector.

Update - I drove the van. No overdrive, and once in a while if you take your foot off the gas, and reapply throttle, it will clunk which indicates that perhaps the torque converter is not unlocking at some points. He gets code number P0742 (TCC Stuck On/Fail TCC Solenoid). We don't want to rip this apart until we're certain on what it is in the case that we have to order parts. Why would P0742 throw overdrive/4th out of commission? I was cruisin @ 55 MPH @ 2500 RPM and no shift. Does it see the P0742 (code was active when driving, takes 20-30 mile drive to active) and disable overdrive?
