Brake Warning Light

Post by SpiritLake »

Not sure if this is the correct place to post this, if not, please redirect me.

I have an issue with my '97 Bonneville SE, the brake light is non-stop dinging the moment I start driving. This usually happens when the P-Brake gets nudged, and a slight adjustment will make it go away. However, I've been doing a lot of work on the car, jumped it a few days ago and suddenly it has this non-stop dinging.

I believe this is an issue to do with the parking brake, but I've nudged it, set and reset it multiple times, but no amount of fiddling seems to help.

I did accidentally scrape the rear underside of the car when backing into a driveway, could that have caused this?

Simply disconnect the ground wire from the parking brake assembly and the warning will stop. This is a culprit of rusted up lines or weak return springs on the line causing the pedal to not retract all the way.
