L36 in SSEI, L67 to L36 swap

Post by lancelarson156 »

Just finishing up dumping a NA motor in my SSEI. L67 is shot so i want to just run one of my lower mileage NA motors, for awhile.
Had to swap out fuel lines, airbox, and MAF and EVAP solenoid connectors, but everything else went pretty straightforward.

But it wont fire the fuel sticks. Have rail pressure fine.

I have HP tuners, so i already changed the tune to "no supercharger" ([ECM] 205 - Supercharger Fitted: Indicates if supercharger is fitted.)
Injector flow rate was changed in the past, because the L67 was running smaller injectors from a L36 already.

While scanning the crank no start condition, the injector pulse remains zero.

The security light is not on, VATs says pass on scan tool.

I cant flash the SSEI VIN into the SE operating system, HP tuners says its not compatible.
I also cant change the VIN or operating system with the TECH 2.

I cant be the only person to slap a NA into a charged car.

Do i have to find a vin for a NA car, say a SLE and program the whole car to that VIN? What about the transmission control?
BCM, RIM, DDM ect...
Im pretty certain its something to do with the PCM OS or calibration since its telling me no injector pulse.

Can anyone provide some insight on the proper way to do this.

I don't know for certain, but I would cross check the part numbers for all the sensors you are running on the non-supercharged engine to see whether compatible with the ecm. I'm going to take a wild guess that some of the sensors, especially on the intake side of things are different. I did an L67 to L32 swap and kept the same L67 sensors in order to avoid the possible hassle, but going to non-SC is a different story. Good luck.

Well i may need some more luck.

My MAP readings are whack. 180kpa running or not seems a touch too much.

I already copied every table that was available in HP tuners from an 03 SLE, including the Main VE. No codes would get thrown, but it also would not start.

But, unplug the MAP, throw the P1107 DTC, and bam fires right up.

Looks like HP tuners lacks the table to scale the MAP sensor voltage, so that's impressive.
