gutted air box..

Post by macksdaddy77 »

So im just curious as how viable this is compared to a fwi... reason being money is tight with trips and saving for other things.. so at this point im just looking for MPGs.. so will the gutted box help out, is the FWI that much better than a gutted box .. hoping to find out from someone who upgraded from a gutted box to fwi but as always any help would b great

I had a gutted air box on my LeSabre before my fwi. I did notice a bit of throttle response compared to the stock airbox, and the engine will be louder. When I swapped to my fwi, I noticed a pretty big increase in throttle response, mpgs didn't really change but I do a lot more city driving than anything. For a tight budget, go ahead and gut it, there's not really much to lose. Plus, it will make your beautiful supercharger whine noticeable ;)

SO i finally ripped into my airbox.... and no baffles in it.. there was literally just a pipe from the fender to the airfilter and that was it.. air filter was pretty dusty, might just throw a k&n in it and call it good, i rly dont see how a fwi could do much more airflow than that.

You will want to remove everything from inside the box with a Dremel. The FWI flows much better than the stock box and also carries the bonus of sucking in cooler air.
