hi guys, i recently purchased a 2001 Aurora and it has been good to me with no problems at all, until this morning.
i cranked it up and backed out the drive way and the car fell dead on me. i stopped, put it in park and tried to restart
it but got no kind of response at all. i sat in the heat for a few more minutes trying and trying with no luck. i checked
the terminals and they were pretty tight but the car is giving me no type of respone at all. NO DASHLIGHTS COME ON
AT ALL, radio wont come on nothing. its like im tryning to start a car with no battery in it but a couple things still work like the
interior lights and the power seats other than that when i try to start it the car doesnt make a tick click or sound.

what can the problem be? i have little mechanic exp and i have no tools to aur a mechanic that can come check it out...
need answers asap please and thanks in advance! im hoping ts a battery if so i will catch the bus to autozone if i have too lol

edit: car details 2001 olds aurorA 3.5 V6 155K miles

Sounds alot like a battery. But usually they dont just die that instantly.

Firstly, welcome to the Pontiac Bonneville Club.

We owned a 2001 Olds Aurora with the 4.0L Northstar (still miss that car) and had experienced similar issues on an intermittent basis. The car sometimes require a boost to start after the car ran normally for over 30 minutes. Generally would restart every time we boosted with help of road side assitance which was way too many times for comfort.

Fortunately was able to start the car normally one day and drove straight to the GM dealership that I was most familiar with and advised them of my issues. Of course the no start issues did not show itself once the car was in the shop after numerous scenario based attempts by the shop. Finally through checking their GM Technical Service Bulletins (TSB) information surfaced that these make/models had potential problems with corroded or weak ground reference cable. This cable basically runs the entire length of the vehicle and is susceptable to corrosion from exposure to the elements.

If this is the problem you could save yourself some $$$ on diagnostic costs. The part isn't that cheap either possibly because it's model specific.

Good luck and hope that your back in the saddle soon!

P.S. another good resource for you in general would be ACNA - Aurora Club of North America.

I second that it's the battery. SSEiMan01's battery died just about as radically as that one time.
