Fuel sender fix....
got the part i learned about in this place to fix the fuel gage........took me an hour and now ......IT WORKS!!!!! THANKS GUYS!!!!

yes ive done that twice....when i first got the car the dash didnt work at all. thank god everythings fixed and comfy!!! ...lol

@keir - I hear you. I had my part for about six months before finally getting up the motivation to begin. But I was able to get 'er done, even though I had a lot of corrosion on the locking ring in my trunk.
I suggest you watch Hans' video on YouTube for a sense of reassurance about the procedure. This is not a diffficult procedure. Since it involves a fuel component, you might be a bit intimidated, but there is no need to worry (as long as nobody is smoking around the car). If you have trouble getting your locking ring off, get a big heavy hammer (borrow or buy). Once that ring is off, things go pretty fast. Having a working fuel gauge that you fixed yourself is a very satisfying feeling!

I did the one on the wife's `01 Grand Prix, same part, same procedure. I watched Hans' video first, then just got to work and got it done. It was pretty easy, actually. Give yourself maybe 2 hours and have plenty of paper shop towels and rubber gloves on hand.

since my car had over 100k on it I decided to go ahead and swap in an entire fuel pump module. Thanks to the board for the Rock Auto discount code, but unfortunately the gauge is still wacky even after the new module. It isnt as erratic as it was before but still pegs itself against the speedo rim when full and sounds the chime for low fuel before it ever reaches one quarter tank level.

sounds to me like the little metal prongs that sweep across the piece that measures fuel level arent making good contact.
