Decklid and taillights

Hey, I'm new here, and I haven't had a chance to go through all of the previous threads, so this may have been answered before. If it has, Please just point me in the right direction. I don't yet have a Bonnie, but I'm considering buying one soon. I just love the 3800 series 2, so I'll likely either buy a 96-99, or I'll be looking to swap to the series 2 in a 92-95. I love the way the 92-95 headlights look, but I like the 96-99 decklid and taillights. Can anyone tell me if there would be a problem with just swapping either the front clip of a 92-95 onto a 96-99, or swapping the decklid and taillights in the other direction?

BTW, I have seen a lot of AWESOMENESS on here, and I've been a member for a few HOURS! I want to learn from you all!!!

Sweet! Is it a direct bolt-on, or do I need to do any kind of machine/body work?

Any idea about taking the headlights, bumper, and grille and going the other direction?

Going the other way is going to be a lot more labor intensive.

thats Geoffs car right, if im not mistaken I was there the day he did the swap, I think he had to drill new mount holes on the lift arms. but wasnt a big deal.

Ok, so if I want a car like the one in those pictures powered by a series 2, it'll be more realistic to get a 95 and change the decklid/taillights and engine?

I think its pretty intensive to put a OBDII system in an OBDI vehicle.....?

Only way you'd have a 95 with the Series II is if you got an N/A car. Supercharged Series II didn't come till 96.

The car pictured above has a s1. s2 didn't come out until 96. If you want the car above, but still want the s2 engine, you really only have 2 options.

1. Buy a 96-99 and swap on a 92-95 front clip, door moldings, and rear bumper.
2. Buy a 92-95 and swap in a s2 engine and 96-99 decklid and tails.

In the end, I think you should just buy a 96-99 SSEi and let the newer look grow on you.

lol, I just might. Maybe I'll get the 96-99 for my DD and get myself a cheap 92-95 to make into my project...

Speaking of projects, I wanna get some opinions. I have two MAJOR projects in mind for a Bonnie.

Project idea 1: LS4 w/AWD system from the Aztek (Finally making the Aztek worth SOMETHING!). I know GM themselves did this in a Grand Prix, so I figure why can't I do it in a Bonnie?

Project idea 2: Remove the front and rear subframes and install a full RWD frame complete with LS1 (or whichever LS series engine I can find at the time), 4L60 (or 6L60 if available at the time), and IRS suspension.

Neither of these is intended to be an "installed in one weekend" project, nor are either of them intended to be cheap. They are meant to be a challenge, and therefore a grand accomplishment once completed!

The 3800 Series II made its debut in naturally aspirated form in 1995 and the supercharged version came out in '96. Unless I missed something, it didn't sound like Robroyboy was looking specifically for a supercharged engine, so the easiest solution would be to find a '95 and update the deck lid and tail lights.

I could be wrong but I thought that the 95 did get the SII but it was not running OBD1.5

The 95 non-supercharged did get the SII, and was OBD1.5
The 95 Supercharged was still SI, and was OBD1.5

Check the "tails" section for 04-up Grand Prixs and scroll down to "honeycomb tails" I absolutely love the look of those, and I think that pattern would look boss as hell across the back. The Bonne GXP tail set doesnt have the lines of the 04 so the honeycomb would go nicely I think.
