Resetting check engine light

Resetting check engine light

I had a code which was to change the coolant temp sensor... and thats been changed. How do i get rid of the engine light?

Disconnect the battery and touch the terminals together for 10 seconds and then leave it disconnected for a half hour or so. Otherwise it should clear after a set number of key cycles.

Noone local with a obd2 scanner? They can delete it in about 30 seconds.. Just had a "converter flow" code deleted today.. Whatever the F that is

but i had them scan it with the obd2 bout it keep sayin error or was it just that scanner... i have a 94 so...

OBD 2 is for anything 1996 and up. I believe the 94 is still OBD 1. It may be OBD 1.5, which is the old style codes with the new style plug.

I believe 94 is OBD 1.5. You'll need an OBD 1 scanner with an OBD II cord, in essence. Any shop with a snap-on scanner should be able to do it. AZ won't...

What code did you get? Just curious.

If you touch the cables together(while disconected) it pulls any possibly stored voltage in the car.

Sorry, forgot it was a 94.. But still He had to have the right connections to see the code anyways.. Weird that he Couldnt/didnt delete it ..
