What's funny is that by the time you are done you won't want to haul anything in it and will buy another "beater"

I also had an experience with Fords wiring harness. My old Eddie Bauer was AWD, but it had the wiring harness for the 4WD plugged into a little plastic clip on the back of the dash trim. Did absolutely nothing, was just hanging out there. As much of a Chevy guy as I am, gotta love Ford sometimes. Truck is coming together nice, I love it when people add factory options...

NERF bars :beerchug:

Image

With the interior almost done, I could finally put the nerf bars on the truck (the rear outside corner bracket uses the seatbelt lower bolt...so until the rear corner trim in the cab was done, there was no point installing the bars.)

So, on to the next task!

And yeah, even though it will look reasonably nice when I'm done, it will still end up being abused. This is sortta getting the truck up to "critical mass".. where enough is done to let it do the job. Anything that gets beat up along the way can be replaced.

The bed decking experiment is working out well. The truck has been driven around, rained on, and the boards haven't shifted around. Think that is enough test. Time to buy the rest of the lumber and finish the bed.

Ok, farm truck is in it's natural habitat:

Had to clear tree branches before Verizon would hook up the telephone lines. Taking them out through the field to dump them, had to stop and let the truck mug for a photo. ;)

Yeah, it does kinda look like it's out grazing in the pasture ;)

And yes, real phone lines... I even have my own telephone poles (poles on the property are "subscriber" poles, I actually own the poles.) That's why I had to clear the path, they were so overgrown that the wires broke years ago. Verizon got the lines up, so I have telephone service.

Making due with tethering my iPhone to get internet service, until I can harrass Verizon to add more equipment in Fayette City so I can get ADSL service.

Yea! Truck passed the PA Vehicle Inspection yesterday. Slapped the decal to the windshield and it's legal in PA. I didn't have to add mud flaps or anything else. Spent more time yacking about restoring old Ford vehicles (fellow has a 65 Mustang Fastback that, like my Galaxie, is best described as a "work in progress" :) )

Local mechanic doing the inspection pointed out the need for a new U-Joint on the front axle (steering knuckle on the passenger side) so it looks like I need to do some work on the front axle before the end of summer. Probably get on RockAuto and order the U-Joints, seals, bearings, and rotors to do the entire axle in one session.

Underbed tool boxes are ordered, I expect them to be here by the time I get back from Florida (weekend trip to Carolyn's high school graduation)
