The headlights still come on when it gets darker out, and you can always turn them on manually if you notice that the cars without DRLs (most vehicles on the road, especially older oens) are hard to see.

So just turn your headlights on all the time then?
That hardly seems like a smart solution. That's exactly the point of the DRL, to keep the headlights from being on all the time.

I like having the lights on during the day, but I would rather have my fog lights and side markers on. I think it looks better and more aggressive.

Anyone know what all it would involve to disable the regular DRLs and have the fog lights and side markers be on instead?

I was thinking that too. That would make the car look much more aggressive and cool.

No, only when conditions require it. At least you have a choice this way.

You dont need to modify anything to do this.. just turn the headlight stalk switch halfway forward which turns on the side markers. then hit the fog lights.

That is what I do, but the DRLs are still on at the same time. I know I could disable the DRLs and flip the switch to have the side markers and fogs on, but I would just rather have them come on automatically like the DRLs do.

My fogs stay on all the time, unless I turn them off. They automatically turn the markers on, and the DRL's stay off.

Yea same here thats why i would turn the DRLs off.

Firstly, on the original topic - does this work with '02s? Secondly, or is all you really need to do is take out the relay? Thirdly, while daytime running lights being off only reduce the chance of a collision i drive fairly well assured that i'm safe regardless of whether or not i can be seen that much sooner. I mean, how long have we has drivers been driving without them? And i do believe i have read on more than one occasion that there have been studies that have shown no direct relation to less collisions based on those lights being on. The way i feel (based on my car color), if you can't see my black car comin' at you from distances than you don't need to be at a wheel. I grant you, i may feel differently at the wheel of a silver or gold/tan car....

works on all 00+'s....remove relay and jump the connections

You dont have to pull the relay and jump anything. there is a 15 amp fuse by the relay that says drl/foglights. pull that fuse and it will disable the the DRL. I did it and it worked for me and my foglights still work.

Hmmmm really?
I pulled the relay and jumpered the two connections per all the forum instructions.
I leave the fog lights on. The parking lights and tails light up and the DRL stay off just how I like it.

When it gets dark, the headlights still come on by themselves.

Never tried simply pulling the fuse. :???:

make sure both your high beams come on. I think you may have disabled one side.

Oh, that's right. I forgot that if you don't pull the relay and jumper it, or just pull the fuse, the high beam won't all come on. :laughing3:

The pic that shows the homemade jumper is upside down IF you look at the car from the front. The relay is # 30 and is black. This info was tested on a 00 SE. I don't know what it is on any other Bonnies.

To those that think of "safety". Would a '70 Chevelle SS look good with DRL's? Does a any muscle care look good with DRL's...um no. I hate any new muscle car with DRL...because it's TACKY just like rainbow words. DRL's belong on older folks cars and Vans. I think WE should look out for them because WE should know better and let them have the right-of-way when given a chance. BUT, there is a golden rule on the road. "Never be courteous/polite/passive at a cross-road." There has been to many times I have seen an accident involving a right-of-way gifted. Just take the right-of-way.

We clear our HL/TL's to look "cool or fresh". I see no reason to over-ride the DRL's.

NOTE: SOME STATES HAVE A DRL LAW. So don't pitch the relay.

Thanks ;)

My HIDs are only 35w versus the 55w stock. my lenses do not get as hot as with the 55w plus HID you can see better. I think DRLs with the low beams or high beams are not necessary, you should be visible either way if people are paying attention...what did they do before DRL's?

Rob, 05 SLE/GXP have a different setup for DRL's than the rest of 00+. Make sure you know what you are posting before you do it.

No US States have a DRL law that I am aware of. Canada does.

00+ the fogs turn the markers on, and automatically turn on when you turn the car on if they were on when you shut the car off.

I know im starting up an old thread but is there anyway, that after you disable your DRL's to use your ambers in replace of them. I

know that is worded poorly, I want my ambers to come on with out fogs like on buicks. Sorry again for posting on such an old thread.
