Thinking L67 swap on our dying GXP.

Talk about modifications, or anything else associated with performance enhancements. Have a new idea for performance/reliability? Post it here. No idea is stupid! (please use Detailing and Appearance for cosmetic ideas)

Simple solution. Sell it to me for dirt cheap and I'll completely refresh the motor, stud it, get the heads ported/polished while off (as mentioned above), and even look into some custom grind cams, and then have a factory freak strong runner. :)

The issue with any of these 4 cammers is dialing in the cam phasing if you disrupt their factory phasing. It isn't easy. It's not like a simple SBC where you put it's one cam in the block, intake valve on #1 straight up and then degree it to your desired amount and call it a day.

I think I mentioned this before, I picked up the Aurora V8 Motorsports handbook years ago (when I had my Aurora), and was reading through some of this and it even made me light headed trying to absorb all that info.

Comparing it to the LC3 (as mentioned above), isn't a fair comparison because the LC3 is only a "Northstar" in name and shares virtually nothing in terms of parts wise with the LD8 used here. And then even modding an LC3 isn't quite worth it either as even with the decreased displacement to handle the boost (down to 4.4L vs. the LD8's 4.6), it's still too small of a motor to make BIG power safely. Yea, a couple guys on our forum have taken off the blower/intercooler and replaced it with sheet metal intakes fed by twin turbos and made nice numbers (a heck of a lot nicer than our heatsoaked supercharged/intercooled setup), but in the long run they went back to S/C for durability.
