Ed was updating us in chat while he was on the phone w/ him a few hours ago. Last I heard he was about to be in Denver and was getting 28mpg out of the Northstar. Flip is still on, apparently the GXP hasn't won him over yet.

Currently between Kearney NE and Omaha. He'll be stopping in or before Omaha, and may be taking a detour to visit his parents in SD tomorrow.

I just got the car back from paintless dent repair, it looks 100%. The guy did a great job. The dent on the quarter panel is GONE. The scuffing on the hood is GONE. That small scratch that was even in the ebay pictures, turned out to be some gunk on TOP of the paint, a fingernail fixed that. Now, the exterior is flawless. I'm going to wash it up today and put a for sale sign in it.

Wait. He fixed the whole dent? That paintless repair guy is GOOD!! I take it they buffed the spot, and the other spot was on top of the paint? Weird.

Ya, he was great. Only charged me $75 for everything too! ;)

So, I got her all washed up today, spent a lot of time making sure she was dry before taking her for a drive. I didn't want water streaks everywhere. I had planned on only shooting the exterior for now, but the only really dirty part of the interior are the floormats, from all the MN road salt. I ended up taking 85 pics. I didn't want to decide what I was going to show you, so I'm showing you all.

Sometimes I feel like the Bonneville GXPs look better then the new G8s...I only wish the Bonne GXP was RWD and had a Chevy sourced V8 instead of the Northstar. Still a beautiful car though, sad to see the value of those depreciate so much especially considering they were $40,000 cars just a few years ago, but at the same time makes me wonder how much longer it will be till we'll be able to pick up a G8 GT/GXP on the cheap.

I can attest to how nice that car is. If you're looking for a great running GXP for a good price, look no further.

Naw, then they would have mated the less-then-capable 4T65E to it...I've always been very much against the Chevy smallblock 5.3 with the 4T65E. The 4T80E was a much better choice. Say what you will about the Northstar drivetrain, it was a good move. If you wanted the 5.3 version, there is the GP GXP. That being said...the car will sell fast!
