Cv-joint vibration?

Post by Karpov »

1990 lesabre.

About 45-55mph and up steering wheel starts to vibrate and little bit whole front. It comes when you press lightly on normal gas on acceleration. If you take off your feet in pedal it will almoust end.

So i think its cv-joint sure not tyres.

Is something stock thing what breaks in these? Inner side maybe?

When you steer left it will decrease too so its right side? When weight goes there then it starts.

I know that those are cheap in usa but heavy too so that means bad for international shipping.

Since the vibration is in that range, I'd say it's your tyres that are out of balance. CV joints typically cause a clunking/grinding sound. Have your tyres checked and balanced as well as rotated.

Vibration on hard acceleration is still. When i turn left and drive circle it will vibrate. Which side is bad? Right side turn nothing bad.

Can you check the trans fluid level/condition? The filter pickup is biased to the left side of the car, so a left turn will cause the fluid to slosh to the right side and if the level is low enough it can cause the trans to shudder, which would be a similar feeling to a steering wheel vibration.

Otherwise you might need to jack up one side at a time and start checking for loose components.

Yes, about a quart or so, maybe more if it's not parked level.

They may just pop out by hand, but I had to use a crowbar to get them to pop.

Yeah, there is a C-clip type snap ring that needs enough force to overcome. I can never get them by hand. Be aware that if you pull on the shaft the boot can split and then you have a nasty nasty mess too. Pry the inner joint against the trans with a thin piece of wood on the trans to not damage it.

Also, replace the seals on the trans, unless they are newer they can leak after you put new C/Vs on.

Many many miles have been come after last message.

Car vibrates when it hits bumb on highway, its same do you accelerate or not. Is that cause of bad cv joint or something else?
Feels on steering wheel and front too, not furious. And i dont mean bad bumbs or cracks or the road, just normal "swings" when car goes smooth.

It feels like when you drive cross that Image

I dont know is that common on states.

You might be chasing a worn out strut. Without any damping the tire will basically hop down the road with even a minor imbalance or small bump.
