A bad engine temperature sender will tell the ecu it is as cold as possible, consequently giving maximum enrichment. When it dies pull a couple of plugs and see if they are wet.

There are NO trouble codes stored ! Zero--zip --not one and all I get is a 12 code flashing . Works as when I purposely disconnect a sensor I get the proper trouble code andwhen I reconnect the sensor it goes away.

That is why I am finding it impossible to fix. Even paid for a diagnostic was told it was the pressure regulator.
before that the crankshaft position sensor. Spent 275 on parts and labor and computer diagnostic now they want 150.00 for a level 2 diagnostic. It is becoming a cash cow for the mechanic.

could a hair line crack allow water from cooling system to seep into the cylinders and cause it to stall and not start for a few hours or unless pedal pressed all the way to the floor?

I think you would have more issues than bad starting if that was the case.
Have you checked the engine temperature sensor?, are the plugs wet with gas?.

could be ICM the old magnavox design does weird stuff when it overheats. but also check plugs for wettness. I doubt you have a cracked block or head that could leak like that, and the intake gaskets are pretty good on the VIN C still original on mine at 180000.

It seems as if after running for 5 min or so the engine floods and you have to let it sit to dry out the cylinders spark plugs are soaked and the fuel pressure regulator was replaced. it made no difference. there are no trouble codes stored in the ecm either. the crank position sensor was replaced and the coils and ignition module were replaced, spark plugs new gapped to .060 new spark wires running very rich and in open loop too. ecm checks out and engine coolant sensor might need replacing. maf sensor causes trouble code when unpluged and pluged bk in ses light goes out. Still stumped and car has 148,000 mi and passed ca smog last month flying colors

^^This^^ Had an Eclypse that did the same thing, stayed in open loop and stalled.
Finally put a scan tool on it and it read -40 deg. After the engine warmed up.

Either put a scan tool on it, or change the temp sensor, they are cheap.
