I'm looking at options to possibly swap my 89 Olds 88 engine and trans into. What models of cars use this engine/trans combo? I'd like an easy swap wear the computers would work with this as well.
I was thinking of 2dr same year Lesabre, Olds 88, Toronado or ? Don't know it 89-91 would work with those or if there were engine/trans changes in 90 or 91.

Depends on what you really want...
the 91 Le Sabre, Olds 88 and Bonneville were all using the newer electrical system and did have some updates including the suspension..
Generally 89-90 should be identical to what you have... 91 is where some of the changes happened.. 91's used the same computer as the 88-90.. If you used an 89-90 you could swap the suspension from your old to the 89-90 one as well..

What I really want is a 2dr Lesabre, Delta 88, Toranado, or Riviera. So I guess a 89-90 version would work then for an easy swap.Jrs3800 wrote:Depends on what you really want...

What about an earlier model like an 86-88? Would I only need to add in the computer from my 89 or is the electrical different? I know the computer is different as the 89 3.8 is not the same as the 86-88 right?

88 is a mixed year... GM used both the old Vin 3 3.8 and the new Vin C 3800... If its an 88 3800 powered car then you shouldn't have any real problems..
