driver window switches

Post by jnl518ssei »

Have searched the forum and can't find an answer. My 2000 ssei's window switches are lit up after the car is off. Its the first time I've noticed it. Is this normal or not? My gas tank lock doesn't function either. Any help out there?

if the drivers door is open after the car is shut off, then the Lock, Seat Memory and the Window switches will be light up

This is normal. And the light for the igniton switch stays on. They all turn off when the courtesy lights go off after you lock the car or eventually the will go off even with the door open.

Try to put some WD40 in the little tab that slides out to lock the gas door. It got mine working.

Don't use WD-40 in the door switches! Just in the Gas door lock!

You can purchase a spray for the switches at Radio Shack.
We used to use "Tuner Cleaner/Lubricant" in the old days...Any good Contact Cleaner/Lubricant should be fine for your door switches.

Most of those gas door locks are shot. Neither of my two Bonne's had one that worked, and it never affected anything (unless you live in a high-crime area and worry about gas theft?).

Even then i dont think you can even get a hose into the fuel tank... i believe there is a screen to keep large junk from going in.. as part of the filler neck.
