1986 G-Body Bonneville

Post by NohawkRob77 »

My second Bomerville. Its a G-Body 1986 Pontiac Bonneville Brougham "Sleeper Edition" thats factory loaded with every option. Its my Daily Hellbeater and im not affrade to drive it because I wash the scum off it once every other week when its above frezzing outside and driven a hour and fifteen minutes 62 miles one way to work or a total of 124 mile round trip to work everyday. Originaly equipted with a 5.0L "305" Engine backed by a 200r4 Trans. The original block is now topped with a 305HO top end from a 85 SS Montie Carlo that a friend at a engine shop did a 3 angle valve job to and put on matching valve springs on for a Comp Cams Thumper cam I installed after I port and polished the heads to match up to Headman Headers and I replaced the factory crank with a forged crank from a 350 I found cheap at fall Carlisle. I also have and have yet to install a elderbrock performer intake with a elderbrock 600cfm carb do to hood clearance issues that ill be working on at a later date. The engine ran when I bough the car but not well do to a bent pushrod thats why I did the engine work. Ive also chopped up the transmission crossbrace and kustom made it fit closer to the floor of the car to allow for duel exhust. The duel exhust and headers are off a 87 SS Montie Carlo that were a cheap Craiglist Score. The duel exhust is cut up and better contored fit to the four door G-Body Frame with a straight threw cat and blowmaster mufflers that came with the exhust tubing. I welded plugs on the headers and screwed in the smog tubbing to give the apperance that its funcitional to "pass" the "visual" for inspection. I also kustom boxed in the factory four link rear end and put a 28spline series 2 eaton posi I found in a junkyard out of a S10 that has a low highway gear ratio of 3.08 since I drive the car 62 miles one way to work. Ive also kustom painted the rims Hotrod Black with Utech Paint to fit in with all the aftermarket shinny expensive rims that are out there. I also have done many other wonderfull things to my Bomberville suspenssion wise and steering wise to make it a all go and no show award winner. Last but not least id like to mention and or bost it has about 80% of its original paint thats in beautyfull showroom condition and a 100% original vinyal top thats in outstanding shape with high quality age cracks in it. It doesnt leak or burn oil and has 360,000 miles on it and gets about 20- 24mpg on the highway and thats about all I have to say about it for now because im tired of typing.

I have a little bit more amped up 305 build in my T/A from what it sounds like. But close in term of motor mpds anyway. I imagine it makes that boat a little more lively.

That's awesome. It looks in great shape for a car of that era used as a daily driver through winter. I really like the G-body Bonnevilles. I'd quite like one as a companion for my '92.

Ground clearance looks a little higher than standard or is it just my eyes?
