1989 ABS

Post by MattStrike »

Has anybody retrofitted the '92+ wheel hubs with integrated ABS sensors to the '89 era system? I don't see why it won't just bolt on, with some wires spliced. Worst case is I need to use all 4 wheel hubs I think.

Apparently you can't get the sensors for the '89 new anywhere. And I think this would be a more robust solution in case I ever had to do the job again in the future.

Do you still have the ABS system that has the abs pump unit all in the master cylinder? If so, you are likely better off converting to the newer system anyway, those systems were pretty annoying all together.

Didn't the 91's use the same sensor with the updated system? I know the 91 SSE sitting here has the newer pump but has the sensors attached to the knuckle with the ABS ring on the axle..

Can't say for certain if the 92+ hubs would work..

CSM is no help, so looks like I'll have to experiment.
