Air Boxes, gutting and replacement
I'm sure there's a millon threads out there but; how would one go about gutting the air box, or does anyone know a site where I can buy an after market one? I checked KnM but all they had when I searched 2002 Bonneville was oil and air filters

LOTS of Mods
Re: Air Boxes, gutting and replacement
you could cut the airbox for more airflow, the car will also sound louder.
The FWI replaces the entire airbox with a less restrictive filter and pipe

Re: Air Boxes, gutting and replacement
FWI takes the filter completely out of the engine bay...into the fender. It is protected there by the cladding of the front bumper cover, but still gets massive airflow from the front grille area into the filter. Here is a WIP photo of mine for reference.

The gutted airbox process is simple. Take it all apart and I usually use a jigsaw carefully with a metal blade, or a dremel with a cut disk. Mark out what you want to do, and make sure that if you use jigsaw, you don't jar the blade and end up breaking a main support on the front edge. I did my GP, and you will need a smaller size 7" or so KN filter to fit, otherwise you won't get it in the box. You pretty much gut all the surfaces you can that don't affect how it holds together, leaving the supports for the PCM intact. This is my 2k5 GP. It is inline MAF so it is a bit different, but you get the concept.
