01 sle occasional hard shift

occasionally my transmission will shift hard. outside temp doesnt seem to make a difference but it hasnt been over 60 degrees and its been below zero. Anyone have suggestions. thx

PCS issue. Gotta get a shift kit.

Anytime. I had the same thing happen to me, shift kit cured it completely.

so i sont need to replace the pcs? Just put in a shift kit and im good to go?

You could replace the PCS but that is expensive. $400 at least and it might fail later. You have to drop the subframe to do it since the PCS is deep in the bowels of the trans. A shift kit is $50 and much easier install.

Awesome. thanx. What kit would you suggest? Ive never done any tranny work but fluid and filter change. do you kno where i can get installment instructions? any special tools or procedures? obviously i dont have to drop the tranny. Im liking that.

The kit used most around here is the TransGo. It tightens up your shifts without being harsh. My shift kit is a bastard child of ZZP and some tight springs, and it breaks my teeth WOT shifting. If you've done the fluid and filter change you can do the shift kit. I can't find the link to the tutorial. I'm sure someone else will chime in with it. However, the kit comes with good instructions apparently.
