Get under the car and tap on the cat. If it rattles it's bad.

Also if you drive it at night, it will glow if it's bad.

How about you clean or replace the EGR valve since that is what the code is for... then worry if you destroyed the cat.

Did clean the egr, no signs of build up anywhere. what brand egr valve replacement do you recommend?

Delphi or AC Delco. Get one from RockAuto, the parts stores rip you off on them.

What's the code. The I'm working on egr code as we speak. I have a extra egr if ya need one. ;-)
I have replaced mine and was not the problem. After taking with the pros here I find that rearly egr is the issue.

Yes its code p0404 on my handheld scanner, p1404 i believe it converts to when i select GM. it just started coming on and acts like its missing at low rpm, sometimes trys to stall when i first touch the gas, i unplugged the egr connector and it runs fine. any more ideas? Hate to buy egr valve if its not it, seen too many post with people changing their egr and it still kicking out the code that why i ask. Thanks again.
