Erratic climate control
Erratic climate control
The climate control on the GXP is running a little wierd lately. The fan seems to go from on to off to high setting to low setting randomly. Sometimes I have to turn the climate control on and off 6 or more times just to get the fan to come back on. In the summer time the AC would turn on and off randomly as well. Any clue? Does it sound like a bad head unit?

I also am after the answer to this question. My climate control works great during the warmer months. Last winter, the fan either was weak or wouldn't turn on. Then when the weather warmed up, everything worked great. Now it is getting cold again, and again my fan is weak. Someone chime in on this!

Could your brushes in the blower motor be warn out? Mine behaved similarly before I replaced the motor. Above 60 degrees it would work fine, just loud. Below 60 it would become a little sporadic, but going over a bump would usually solve the issue. Below 40 degrees it wouldn't work period. Unless you smacked it with something.

Hey guys,
does anyone know where the blower motor is actually located? I've been getting some "squeeling" sounds eminating only when running the HVAC system (especially noticable when turning left).

Under the hush panel in the passenger foot well. Two 6 MM (I believe) bolts and a panel clip is all that holds the panel on there. Then you can see the bottom of the motor. 3 bolts and some wiggling and you can wrestle it out of there. I suggest unclipping all the wiring under there so it hangs free to make it easier to wrestle out the motor. Depending on how big you are, it might be easier to remove the passenger seat so you can lay flat on the floor and look up into where the motor is to ease removal. I'm a small kid, so I got away with leaving the seat in.

Could be a number of things. Highly doubt it's a bad headunit.
Take it out of auto mode and manually select fan speeds and see if you get the same results (some fan speeds don't work). IF that's the case, then it is a blower motor resistor. Otherwise I look at actuators, sensors, etc...

Just letting you know, it was the stupid fan motor. What a PITA to replace, a couple hours and bloody knuckles will get you going again.
