Well, I look forward to your build thread and hope for the best outcome in regards to the motor situation.
I know all to well the feeling of just fix it to sell it.
But now I have way to much fixed to sell it at this point and come out ahead. I'm pretty close to a new 99 Bonne at this point.
Yup. All my stereo wiring is loomed up and tucked. Got some damping on the floor now. I had kicked around the idea of doing mlv and decoupler but didn't really feel like adding another 40lbs to the car, and the carpet pad is already 3" thick in a lot of areas.

I assume there is a reason that this hasn't been asked, but why not take your current engine. I haven't seen why it died but with as bad as the one you got seems i would think one you have had for awhile and know what maintenance has been done to would be a better base to start from as far as the rotating internals go? Just wondering cause i haven't noticed a post about your cars current engine.

2000 SSEi R.I.P. Dead now :( INTENSE FWI, polished LIM, P&P supercharger, custom radiator, standalone trans cooler, trans-go shift kit (donating to the 88)

Mini update: I've outed the seller, oldblueeyesbonne in another thread. He's not made any effort to remedy the situation so I figured id make a public not of it in case anyone else has this problem.

Machined a spacer to get the intercooler core out of the LIM, where it was blocking nearly half of the area of the runners. Also machined the nice ported LIM to accept the intercooler.
Whats this? Yeah, getting serious. 9.5:1, uncoated, cause its not worthit IMO.

Caption fail and I need to grab a pic of the ic spacer and lim. Its quite... tall.
Ill be dropping off the pistons, rod bolts, new damper (on its way still) and new flexplate tomorrow so the bottom end can be balanced. I'm still not sure if I'm going to pay this shop to shortblock it for me but I don't have the time at this point.
Also, all this has been for nothing really. I'm pretty sure my engine is fine, I've just got a broken flexplate from the noise it made.
So recap:
Decide to upgrade to gen v, n*, intercooler, etc. Before I install it...
Hear rod knock, park car, engine shopping...
Find longblock, buy cam, open up motor and its junk...
Start performance rebuild of recently purchaces engine while trying to get some money back on it...
Get no money back but continue getting more serious about the build...
So were looking at:
Stock bore block, torque plate honed for total seal rings.
Crank bearings polished out with no machining needed.
Magnafluxed L32 rods, ARP rod bolts.
Clevite 77 bearings all arounds.
ARP main cap studs.
Diamond 9.5:1 forged pistons.
ARP head studs
Ported heads, port matched lim, modified 2.5" wbs intercooler core.
Slightly ported gen v blower.
N* tb, lq4 maf, zzp turndown.
42.5# injectors
Intense S1x cam, once piece pushrods, 105# springs.
-maybe comp pro magnum roller rockers. After speaking with comp about these rockers, its clear they were something some vendow whipped up and are actually for a cevy big block. The shafts aren't made very well, so I might stci with pedistal mount
Baseline tune from Dyno Brian Turner at Dyno Tune Motorsports: very aggressive with timing. I plan to run a very large pulley for this combo to keep the blower more efficiant, steal less horsepower from the crank and hopefully get slightly better fuel economy.
Horsepower estimate is somewhere between 325-340whp.
Still need a few things but the bulk of it is ready to go.

Possibly. I have no desire to try to launch the thing though, so that should help. As soon as the trans breaks the hunt is on for a fiero to put the motor in.

Are you dropping the I/C into that plate or going to sandwich it with another plate? Now about launching the car.......... thats's what I said too, it has to be done once in a while to see if the power is still there. Ha. Intense is working on a spacer plate with nozzles for water/meth injection which has caught my interest again, still flopping back and forth on how I'm going to cool my charge air down. Zzp will not answer my emails about their advertized 1" spacer plates so I am done with them. Intense always answers by phone and will stay on the phone with you for an hour if you like. Intense all the way!!y Looks like you will have a powerfull 3800 and my neighbor has a Fiero sitting but he wants a 3800 for it
