Hello! I have a strange burning electrical smell in the cabin of my 1997 Bonneville.
The only thing I have done to the car is replace the vacuum line going to the heater control box, as it was leaking and the vents would not blow out of the center.
My vents work properly and everything seems to be okay. I smell the burnt smell just about all the time, with the HVAC system on or off.
Any ideas?

I would get under that dash again quickly. It has been a while since I did that repair but wasn't there a underdash light. You should not have had to mess with much electric on that repair. But check for burnt wires, something is touching. Make use it is not the ACC drive belt under the hood. They can smell almost the same when they start to rub.
Had a Chrysler burn on me, ignored the smell for a week. (very cold when it happened). not a fun adventure.

Im in the same situation, but only on hard acceleration or constant hill climbing. Pretty sure by reading certain threads it is just the EGR or the serp belt.

Well the smell completely went away this morning, im not really sure what it was. I pulled the whole underside of the dash out, and re-checked everything. Nothing noticeable.... but maybe it could be under the hood, ill have to check the belts. Thanks for the ideas!
