My other ride....an 09 Pontiac G8 GXP

Post by BiGDaWgZ »

Well...now the only cars I own are currently Pontiac's ! LOL

Just picked up a 92 Bonneville SSE for daily driver/work beater type duties (we carpool and my drive is around 165 miles per day...4 days on...4 days off).

Here's my "OTHER" Pontiac....it's an 09 G8 GXP (just picked it up around 3 weeks ago).

It's stock (other than a tune)...for now.

Will be getting full exhaust....magnuson supercharger and another tune...in the future.

I might even go with a stall for the tranny...eventually....it just depends on whether I do a cam change when I do the charger install.

Future goal is 525 HP at the REAR WHEELS...which is commonly achieved with similar mods.

Mines got 35k miles.

It's Panther Black Metallic with Onyx/Red ....2 toned leather.
6spd Automatic
6.2liter LS3

Only mods so far...other than a tune....are:

Cadillac CTS V wheels/tires
GM perf "G8" gas cap (can't decide if I like this or not..sometimes I do..sometimes I don't..LOL)
GM perf sill plates
Tinted windows
Sharkfin Antenna painted to match (just got it in the mail from Australia this week...hoping to install it on my next days off work)
Pontiac Upgraded ...2 toned Onyx/RED shifter handle to match my Black Red Seats...steering wheel and gauges.

I'll be going with the triple gauge setup that's built into the center stack on the dash....with matching red gauges with "GXP" logo's on them.

I LOVE THIS CAR !!!

Here's a few pics:

Those aren't CTSv wheels. Don't know what they are though. I see tinted rear turn signals

Oh...well that's just what I've been told.....and they have the correct Cadillac offset that makes it possible to run 255's & 285's on it with no rubbing.

They also appear to have UN-modified cts v center caps on them so I just assumed they were correct (at the dealership)... when they told me that is what they were! LoL

I thought they might have maybe been some of the earlier year models....or something like that because they didn't look familiar to me either

Yea..I noticed that too.....it's not really noticeable unless you're looking at it from about 12 inches off of the ground...really!

All that exhaust will be going bye-bye soon though anyways.. :beerchug: LoL.

Maybe the rims were like a dealer add on... Regardless, they look great on the car! Love the car! My next car will hopefully be a G8...

Sadden wrote:Did you get that at Columbia Chev in cincinatti?

Yes I did.....why do you ask?

I also got the back history on it...from the original buyer of the car....after posting it up over on some G8 Forums.

He bought it new....in Texas.

I started my "Mod fund" for it....it's going to be getting a Magnuson supercharger...headers..full exhaust...tune...and possibly a stahl.

I may do a few other mods here and there....suspension wise....but that should be about it for the performance side of things.

As for the interior...I'll be adding the HSV triple gauge stack setup...I'm pretty sure that's the name of it anyways...and there's a company that makes gauges that will match my GXP's gauges...and they'll even put the "GXP" flag logo in there...or at least I've seen some that had been done that way and they looked awesome !

Along with the gauges...I'm planning on upgrading to an in dash touchscreen nav/climate control setup.

I'll probably go with one from earlier Caddy's (not the one that pops up...but the one that's in-dash should work)........I've seen a few write-ups from guys who've done this upgrade successfully and they looked like they came that way originally (which is the look I'm after).

Today...I'm adding my painted sharkfin antenna so that I can get rid of the ugly one that's on it from the factory (it's like 12" tall right now...and that's gotta go ! LOL)

I'm also still looking for a better deal on a quality set of the black floormats and possibly hood/trunk liner and trunk mats to match as well.

There are some out there that I've checked into...but I'd end up having around $400 in just the floor & trunk mats !

I'm wanting mine to be black with a Red Pontiac Logo/Arrow in the UPPER center part of the floor mats....and then I want it to have the GXP logo on the lower center part of the mat....or even up the side of the mat.

I want RED PIPING around the outer edges of the mat's....and they can also say "G8 GXP".....if I can't get just the "GXP" logo (along with the Red Arrow).

Lastly....I'm going to add a HOMELINK door opener setup (probably incorporate it into the sunvisor)...because I think that they should've had that from the factory anyways !! LOL

I'm not sure what the deal is with them...they're staggered...like the caddy's....and they've got Caddy center caps on them too..so they're a bit confusing to me ! LOL

Either way...I like them...and I really like having the bigger meats on there too!

They're a bit of a pain to clean tho...lots of narrow spots built into the wheels...but they look great when cleaned up !!
GoldenBullet wrote:Very nice, I am jealous!
Thanks bud...I've wanted one since 2009/2010...so it took me awhile to get it !

I've only seen 2 G8's......in the past yr or so...in the town that I live in (pop. of about 30k people)...1 was a GT....and the other was a V6 model.

I'm sure there are more around here...but I rarely see any of them.

I think that's part of my attraction to them....but my main reason for wanting one for so long was the combination of performance and handling that were infused into a sedan that had a pretty aggressive look to it (I like em W I D E and LOW)

I was looking for a G8 GT....and never dreamed that I'd end up with a G8 GXP !!

Everything just kinda fell into place and I was really happy that I was able to find one that was for sale...had low miles and extended factory warranty (GM Certified)...and one that was within a reasonable distance from my house !

I've never seen a GXP anywhere around here...ever since they first came out ....and everyone that I ever found for sale within a few hrs of me...sold before I could even get there to see it !!

I work "CELLS" shifts....so we work 4 days on...then 4 days off...so my days off change all the time. PLUS...lately...we've been shorthanded in our department so alot of us get forced to work on some or even all of our days off sometimes !

Everything happened just right for me to get that car...I found the ad from the dealership...and they had a G8GT...so I called...and I talked to a salesman who informed me that they had a GXP.

Luckily...I was off work that day...and I went straight there.

After some wheelin/dealin....and a one owner 04 Tahoe trade in....I came home with probably the best car I've ever owned !!!! :beerchug:

I always wanted one in that real bright orange metallic color...but I don't think that they ever made a G8 GXP in that color.

I really really liked the color of the concept car...and I liked the Ignition Orange...or whatever that one was called too.

I would've liked a super bright yellow on the GXP's as well...I've always liked bright colors...done up in a monochromatic style.

Saturn Simon wrote:Stunning car! Looking great in black too.

Thanks ! I really like it too...nothing looks like black when it's clean (but of course...keeping them clean and free of all the dust is quite the task too ! LOL

I would've been happy with any of the following colors:
Ignition Orange (I'm not sure but I don't think they even offered this color in the GXP)
Stryker Blue Metallic
White Hot
Maverick Silver Metallic

Dang man, that's amazing!! A black GXP, the car I've been drooling over for almost a year now, except I just don't have the money to get one (even used).

Great score! Take very good care of that car!!

(Maybe someday I can get one too, *wipes the tear from his eye*)

A really beautiful automobile you have there. If I knew weather I could get in and out of one, I'd be looking for one to replace my old Bonneville. Glad you were able to become the proud owner of a G8. - BC

Anyone remember this thread?
http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/fo ... 10&t=31681

Same car.
When i checked the price on the car last month the dealer had come down to 32,995
I was gonna make a call here in the next week or two and see if they were willing to come to a fair agreement with me.

But i see some lucky SOB scooped it out from under me :)

Enjoy it buddy.

Ok, now I'm confused. The link that Sadden posts is a G8 GXP WITH OE rims...but buddy goes and buys it with some aftermarket 5 spokes and is told they are CTS rims.

Go get yer stock rims that you're entitled too, they look better then the ones you have!

BTW, the G8 GXP comes with the same wheels as the CTS-V and should have the Ponty dart in the middle...a dentist near my office has one (red GXP) and the this is the situation....

Opening this thread and the first few pics and the one with the dealer plate frame, I was gonna say, I thought this is the one Sadden was looking at.

Anyway, G8 GXP wheels and current generation Cadillac CTS-V wheels are NOT the same. They are very similar but not the same. The two main differences are the center hub/lug section and the design in the openings on the spoke.

Here is a G8 GXP wheel;
Image

Image

Here is a 2nd gen Cadillac CTS-V wheel;
Image

And if they're referring to a 1st gen CTS-V (2004 - 2008), wheel, that is a 6-lug wheel...

Either way, I'd go get your stock G8 GXP wheels. They look infinitely better than what they put on as aftermarket. I'd also call out the salesman on it, asking him if those wheels ended up on HIS G8. IF they won't acknowledge that the salesman swapped them, and you're still within your allowed timeframe of returning the vehicle, threaten them with returning it, unless they buy you a set of true G8 GXP wheels. They can keep those dumb aftermarket ones...
