I usually get the "It still runs?" or "You got a 4 banger in that GM crap?". Living in Ford country really doesn't help my ole rust bucket look or sound good to anyone. Until I get some exhaust mods

I get more compliments about my wheels than the whole car most of the time. I''l have people next to me at lights open a window and ask what size the wheels are, and who makes them. My friends always ride with me because I have the most room, but they rag on me for having an old boat at the same time. I once came out of a 7-11 and there was a guy looking at my car and I go to get in and hes like "Holy crap thats the nicest grand am I ever seen!!" I told him it was a Bonneville and he said that he never knew that they were that big of cars. One time I was at a parts store and a girl came in and she wanted to know something about supercharger oil on her Bonneville. I offered to look at it and show her where to put the oil, and we go outside and she had an old 92 SSEi that was all beat up. I tell her about the club and that I have one and I pointed it out and she stared at it for a minute and says "That car is really hot". I got a phone number that day

When I went looking for a new daily driver to replace my wife's deceased Ford Escort she begged me not to make her drive "an unmarked cop car".
After weeks of sifting through a lot of overpriced Hondas, Subarus and junk, I found a clean, inexpensive, one owner, low mileage, dark green '95 SE with OEM wheel cover and 'spoiler delete', among other options. I crossed my fingers and bought it. She took one look and said it appeared as if " an insurance salesman parked in our driveway."
She quickly warmed to the 'Green Grocery Getter' when she discovered how plush it is.
I hated that clown car she used to drive. I'm 6-3, 200+, and had to do contortions to get in/out of a small enough car that she prefers to drive. She still parallel parks it like Ray Charles, but has nearly as much affection for her new work cruiser as I do, lol.
It's a 17 year old, 'ten foot paint job' car that looks like a T-Bird, Taurus, or any other melting ice cube-mobile. Nobody looks at it twice...
