Loose park brake pedal

Hello, My park brake pedal has been loose for sometime, so I decide to have a look at it finally. The brake light comes on and the bell dings. I have just been pulling it up with my foot. So I was thinking it was just an adjustment, but that has not helped. At the caliper the park brake does come up against the stop, I even over adjusted it and it comes away from the stop. I have readjusted it and it is now just against the stop. The park brake pal is still loose, I am missing something here, does anyone have any idea what I am missing here? Thanks for your help. Can the cable get slack in it and need to be replaced?

OK after trying this and looking at that, it seems something in the front cable is binding at the end of the travel. I can get it in place if I lock a vise grip on the adjuster and give it a smack with a hammer, I did this a few times thinking it may loosen up. No luck, will pick up a new cable next week and should be good to go.......

You can disconnect the connector from the pedal to stop that annoying dinging until you fix it.
