I have a 1995 Bonneville SE. I think its the 3800 II engine. As you can see in the pics below the oil pan gasket is leaking. I used engine degreaser and cleaned all around the oil pan last night. Just took it for a 5min drive and put it back on the ramps then took the below pics. In one of the pics is a black shield that overlaps part of the oil pan. I would assume if I remove this shield that I will get access to the few bolts it is covering? Does anyone have torque specs and know if the bolts need to be torqued in any certain order?
That black cover does come off via the two bolts you can see, and then it should uncover the remaining bolts.
No torque pattern on the bolts that I am aware of, since it doesn't hold pressure or vacuum, but tighten both sides and work to the middle and make sure they are all tight.

Bumping an old thread. I checked the oil this past weekend and it was very low. I'm going to assume the oil has not been changed since I replaced the oil pan gasket in January. The car is the family beater car and hardly driven unless someone else's car is in the shop. I would be shocked if someone put a thousand miles on the car since January.
What would cause the oil to leak out? Does it just simply sweat out over time? Its been almost a year since the last oil change and the car sits outside. When I changed the oil pan gasket I didnt add any gasket sealer to it. I just installed the gasket as is. Should I have added sealer to the gasket?
