2005 SE, with a driver's door that is hard to move...it doesn't groan or creak, I've lubricated the visible hinges...no effect.
There's a black arm that disappears into the door panel, like a guide or something...might that need to be lubricated?
Any thoughts?

That black "guide" is what controls how the door opens. Try lubing it. If that doesn't work, I can sell you one for cheap.

I had the same problem on my 04 SE. What I did was pulled the rubber grommet on the door that goes around the black slide mechanism you mentioned and, with the door opened as wide as it can go and using 0w-30 synthetic motor oil, lubricated the slide as far inside the door as I could get. I then lubed all of the hinges and the hinge point of the slider bar on the sill. I left is sit over night and it seemed to have helped.
Just remember to reinstall the grommet to keep the dirt out.
