SSEi Problems...

Post by Gaskintg »

Hey, I have a 2000 SSEi with a few leaks and stalling issues. I went to autozone and they read of the SES code for me and it concluded a lack of airflow with the MAF sensor. But my airfilter is clean along with my MAF sensor was recently cleaned when I pulled it off to see if the filaments are still intact. Which they were intact when I cleaned off the dirt with a cue tip. But my car only stalls with the MAF sensor plugged in. I am at a standstill I have no idea where to go from here. Plus I know I have a coolant leak, I know the 3800 has an issue with the intake manifold gaskets leaking, is there anyway to check for this? Thanks for your time guys...

The MAF sensor can fail with no visible signs of damage. Get AC Delco only, even a wrecker part is better than buying parts from Autozone.

If you don't know how old your gaskets are, or they're obviously black nylon (plastic), change them. And lose the DEXcool.

I second Bill's MAF comment!! Just went through something very similar and it, indeed, was the MAF sensor. Replace and I think you have the lesser of two issues covered!! Good luck...
2000 SSEi (Silver Eagle) cleared corners (before accident) new LIM gasket, drilled 180 T-stat, new plugs and wires, new valve cover gaskets, new Supercharger gasket, third brake light overlay. Hopefully soon to start more mods for performance. Also, 2005 White SE totally stock and will remain that way!

Wow, I have only been told by the autozone to use DEX-cool with my car, actually I have a brand new bottle of the mix in my garage at the moment. I will deffently look into AC Delco for my MAF sensor or maybe I can find a MAF at my local Pullapart. For the gaskets, a friend of mine are going to replace both gaskets since I was an avid DEX-cool user. Thank you again for your kind insight and great article on our intake gaskets Bill

Use the new Aluminum framed GM gasket design. Make sure you fully FLUSH the Dex to get it all out. Use the Prestone mixes with any, not the Dex-compatible from them. You can use green also if you choose, but the flush is even more critical.

More info in Techinfo. Link at the top of the page.
