Rocker Molding Question

Post by Plasmaburn »

ok so i was in an accident a week ago and then the body shop sent me an estimate and a parts list and they listed mostly all GXP parts but i see they have Bonneville SLE, SSEI rocker moldings front and rear both sides and the damage was only on one side so that got me thinking that the rocker moldings are a different style for the GXP's and they couldn't find any replacement ones.

so my question is, is there a diffrence between the GXP rocker moldings and the SLE, SSEI rocker moldings or are the the same/part number sor something?

They are different. They should still be available from GM.

There's absolutely no reason to have to. You own a GXP and expect OE parts for a GXP to be installed during repairs. Anything else is not a proper repair, and the shop should be ashamed.

knowing that your car is an GXP, I can't believe that the insurance co would accept that estimate with "Bonneville SLE, SSEI rocker moldings" on the estimate from the body shop!!!

Actually, before you jump all over them (the body shop), for 2005, the SLE I believe had the GXP body cladding, including nose, and tail. I've had to do a number of double takes when I saw what I thought was a GXP, only to find it had an SLE from the emblem on it, and of course the wheels, simply becase it had GXP duds. In their parts lookup system, I bet the part comes back as the same part and is labelled as GXP and SLE fitment, even if they look it up based on VIN numbers as that is how the system is setup...

Sorry for the long links, it's friggin AutoTrader.

Yes. You can all apologize now and take your foot out of your mouths *IF* the OP's car is a 2005.

Plus, according to the OP, he said it said SLE/SSEi moulding, not SLE/GXP. I see your point, but I know how this kind of stuff operates. They looked up GXP and saw it said $475 and then looked up SSEi and it said $250 and they went "Oh, we'll pocket the difference and he'll never notice". You have to keep on body shops when they do your work otherwise you'll end up with a half-assed job and never be happy w/ it.
