95 bonne sse problems

Post by Marshall2469 »

I have a laundry list of symptoms I'm getting from my bonne since I dont know whats important for this issue i will include all of them

recently i started having bad voltage drops dash meter goes from 14-9 in seconds and then slowly dies off from there, finally went out and bought an alternator (figured it was the most likely cause) had it changed out. When i got the car back the voltage dropped 2x on the way to get my core charge but then was fine on the way home thought it may have just needed to be broke in. last night i got in the car to go to work it ran fine for about 5 min and then dropped to 12v and tapered down to 9v it stayed at that the rest of the way to work. this morning i went out started it had 9v showing as i started home about 5 min later its like something clicked. it just snapped back to 14v-15v :banghead: . the dash meter is working properly i have tested the voltage to make sure. any ideas on where to start with this problem are greatly appreciated.

symptoms (related or not)
voltage drops from 14v - 9v and slowly drops after... voltage recovers 60% of the time if voltage hits roughly 8.5 engine stalls and needs a jump.
When voltage hits roughly 9.5v check gauges light comes on (engine lit) at about 9v low coolant light comes on (coolant level is fine)
oil pressure gauge has been goin over 120 during acceleration for the past month and droppin back to normal at idle or cruise. except the day the alternator was changed after the alternator was changed it had normal pressure for that day but is now reading high.
also having minor power steering issues (sometimes hard to pull to the right and loose goin left) :dontknow: all suggestions help thanks in advance

I would say this seems to be an electrical problem with the ground somewhere. Talk to willwren he owns a 95 and i am sure he will know how to diagnose this for you

The first thing to do would be to get a load test done on the battery. Even if it is newish, get a load test done on it. A bad alternator can damage a battery and the other way around also.

Take your alternator and battery (both) to an auto parts store that can test them (for free usually).

Loose or corroded battery and/or alternator cables could also cause your symptoms.
