Moar Sleds!

Post by 00Beast »

Well, 2 weeks ago we bought this pair of sleds (separately) and have so far put 100 miles on them. The 'Cat is a 2003 Mountain Cat 800 152" with 640 miles on it, and the Polaris is a 98 XC600 121" (track length). Both are fast, but the Cat is pretty much better all around. More comfortable, just as fast, great on hills and in powder, and just all-around excellent.

Pics:

(The black thing around the Cat is the sled dolly I got of CL for $150 on Wednesday Night, way better than dragging them around)

What do you have Peter? The 600 is pretty quick, and the Mountain Cat gets to 80 *dang* fast, but doesn't go much faster than that...

Niiiccee. Definitely quicker than the kitty, but mine is probably better in deep powder.

I like my old school . If i upgrade, I'd LOVE a '98 Ski Doo Mach Z. But, I like my '86 ski doo formula mx resto project.

I LIKE THAT POOLAIS ALOT, btw

:withstupid:

I love my Mach 1. Cant wait to retro fit an M10 suspension on the back. I do want a triple tho before I die. And when I rented a sled 2 years ago they gave me an 07 Yamaha Vector, 1000cc with reverse....I was in love.

Meh, triples aren't as good as doubles. They tend to pop pistons easier, plus it's a lot more weight over the nose.

True -my buddy is having a hell of a time rebuilding his 1998 XLT 600 -parts for the triple are way harder to find used also.

Center cylinder in the polaris triples are notorious to pop.

It's really fun when you buy one with blown motor, go to rebuild, and order pistons/rings for .020" over and it turns out that center cylinder has already been bored .020" over and has exploded again. Then you bore everything to .040" over and find the block isn't safe for reliable use bored this far.
That's when the $1000 -so-far sled becomes $1700 and will require tearing down that engine for rebuild b/c it too is blown.

Gotta research and measure that stuff before hand.

My buddy has a '98 Yamaha SRX triple, 700cc. Thing runs like a raped ape.
