How much can be gained by a chip change ?

Talk about modifications, or anything else associated with performance enhancements. Have a new idea for performance/reliability? Post it here. No idea is stupid! (please use Detailing and Appearance for cosmetic ideas)

How much can be gained by a chip change ?

Post by Shannoww »

And what is the trade-off ?

Here's mine with 220hp.

Next year they had another 7hp, and HSV came out with the XU-6, and 240hp.

As best as I've been able to find, HSV only played with the mapping to get there.

I see XU-6 computers and chips around the place at reasonable prices (very reasonable for 20 more horses.

If it's fairly cheap and easy, 20 hp is well worth it, IMO.

I'll move your topic for you. This section is for discussing Supercharger, Turbo, and Injection methods. Not general performance stuff.

Sorry, I thought asking a question about the standard V-6 supercharged chip versus the XU-6 supercharged chip fitted.

The forced induction section is more for questions about superchargers themselves, nitrous parts... more mechanical stuff.

Are there any sensor differences that could confuse the different PCM?

If the pinouts and other programming is the same, go for it.

BTW, what's "reasonable" in AUD?

May benifit more, not HP but just acceleration, from a rear gear change.

The Computers are selling on ebay for a couple hudred bucks tops.

Usually, most things/chips/mod boxes are around a grand.

Looks like mine won't take it, as the model was changed same year as mine and has a different harness.
