humming sound coming from wheels
Good morning! this is Dwight! i have a 2000 bonny ssei and i am hearing a humming sound from my wheels or in that area. It increases as i increase the speed or decreases as i slow down. it is louder on some streets than other streets or roads. I want to think it is the tires as nothing has broken down.I would appreciate any help to find out what is causing this. thanks!

If the noise doesn't start until about 30-35 mph, it's likely one of the wheel hubs going bad.

Yep, when I had a hub go bad on my 02 it was more noticeable driving 45-50 in turns. Also check the tread on your tires.. My tires on my truck are out of round and it does as you described. This is something you can feel by placing your hand flat on the tread and moving it around the tire, if it has high/low spots that would be my guess. If that 's not the case you might want to try and rotate your tires and see if anything changes. I also experienced a bent rim on my 02 and when it was on the front it made the car pull to one side, but when it was on the rear it made the car shake.

Re: humming sound coming from wheels
I'm having a similar issue I just replaced all 4 tires, so I thought it was them sounding a bit aggressive, but it has gotten progressively louder Oh yea it's a 1992 bonnie SE I'm thinking of replacing the entire drivers side hub assembly & seeing if that works. Could it be the CV joint making a humming sound ..No grinding or clicking that usually depicts a bad CV joint at all & everything is spinning freely. I just hate throwing parts at something if I'm not 100% right . I'm 50% convinced it's the bearing / hub assembly. If it was me Id drive it till something breaks but its the GF's car

Just to be sure swap the tires to the rear and drive it again. That should rule out a tire.
Bye Bye:

Re: humming sound coming from wheels
does the sound change turning right versus turning left. that will load/unload the bearing a bit.
