Winterizing
Today I winterized the Buick by:
Replacing a 2 year old thermostat with a new 180* one (computer is tuned for 180* stat)
Installing a lower radiator hose heater
Unhooking my auxiliary cooler
Spraying 3 cans of Fluid Film everywhere I could find to spray it on the underside for rust-proofing
Refilling with 50/50 mixed coolant
New windshield wipers
Windshield washer fluid filled with winter de-icer
I'm still waiting for the coolant to cool down to finish the bleeding. 6 hours in the garage to do all that. It was fun working leisurely by myself.
What do you do to winterize your car? If I were still in South Carolina, I'd have said, "Nothing!"

Re: Winterizing
Well some Winterizing and some maintnence:
Flush the half dex and half mixes with anything and refill with "good" coolant
Oil Change
Replace radiator hose that is about to explode
Replacing Leaking Oil Pan Gasket (Really dont feel like messing around filling the oil all the time in the freezing weather)
Change the motor mount
Rotate the tires

Re: Winterizing
On our Firehawk, I don't really do anything. Honestly.
It gets parked on a piece of carpet, and the tires are resting on 3/4" plywood (helps eliminate the flat spots). I typically add in some Stabil, but forgot to this year.

Toss the snow brush in back seat, look at tires, then remember to toss snow shovel in trunk.

Re: Winterizing
Winter wheels, gotta find some door seal dressing and that's pretty much it. I have Por-15ed all the surface rust though..
If I drive in the snow I hose all the salt off whenever I get home.

Pretty much check the tires and fluids.
fill the washer bottle up with Prestone de-icer washer fliuid.
Switch the floor mats from the ones that came with the car to a 4 piece set of Goodyear floormats.
Put the snow bush in the trunk.

Re: Winterizing
Here in Oregon we make sure the wipers are good. More rain than snow. Other than that, I just keep up the regular stuff all year long. Tires rotated every 6k and oil changes every 3-4k. I actually keep and excel file with a record of when I do what and the mileage.

Throw the winter wheels on and call it a day. The white 88-91 SSE aerolites are gone, and the golds will see winter duty this year.

Re: Winterizing
Already flushed coolant in the 90 and the 99.
Both cars have brand new batteries and tires
Washer fluid topped on both.
One last oil change on the 90 before it gets cold.
Examine both for any burnt out bulbs.
Get a hose heater for the 99.
The 95 is Crappiefishers baby and doesnt see much street duty yet, but he's probably got a list

Re: Winterizing
New wipers. That's pretty much it. Our Bonne hibernates through the winter. Rarely gets driven. Spent last year's winter in a snow bank.

Re: Winterizing
Oi, my list was loooong because I have only a parking lot and don't feel like laying in the snow workin on *shoot* this winter unless it's ABSOLUTELY necessary. I have a big word document full of things I want to do on the two bonnevilles and the truck before it gets nasty.... I'm about halfway through the list. The Corolla doesn't need anything because..... it gets no love. probably just an oil change when it's due.
I also go over all of the doors seals with silicone, and put in the de-icer washer fluid.
