The fog lights are out on my '04 Bonneville SE. Additionally, the "power on" indicator lamp in the Fog Light dashboard switch never illuminates.
I replaced the bulbs with new Sylvania #880 halogens. Despite appearances that the 15A fuse was good, I replaced both it, and the Fog Light relay, in the engine compartment fusebox. But still "no joy".
I know there are two TSBs referencing fog lights on the '04 Bonneville SE. Specifically:
TSB Number: 050842013
NHTSA Number: 10017571
TSB Date: September 1, 2005
Exterior Lighting:Fog Lights
Summary: Fog lamp inoperative, fog lamp bulb burns out prematurely.
and...
TSB Number: 07012004
NHTSA Number: 10013166
TSB Date: July 1, 2004
Exterior Lighting:Fog Lights
Summary: Proper fog lamp bulb.
Does anyone know the details with either of these TSBs? I bought the vehicle used, and the fog lamps have never worked in the few months I've owned the vehicle.
I do not know if the prior owner (it was a company fleet vehicle, before I owned it) may have already had such TSBs addressed. Since the vehicle is no longer under warranty, I don't know if a GM dealer will want to handle any fix work without charging me something, and I think the more I understand the specifics of the TSBs, the better the position I'm in, to hash that out with a dealer.
For example, is the first TSB a wiring harness problem? Is it a switch problem? How about the second TSB - what's the deal with the bulbs? Is the #880 not the correct bulb? Every reference I've seen says it is (not that that would have any bearing, I wouldn't think, on the control switch also not illuminating.)
The only thing left to check, I suppose, is to put a meter on the switch, to see if it's getting power. But other than that, is anyone aware of possible sources of problems, that I should check?
Thanks in advance, for any advice!
Ken

Re: Problem w/ '04 Bonneville SE Fog Lights
Group,
I'm still trying to solve a problem with the fog lights not working, on my '04 Bonneville SE. Since there's no amber power lamp turning on in the fog light switch itself, I suspect I either have no power to that switch, or the switch itself is bad.
I've already swapped out the fog light bulbs themselves, the fuse, and the relay. With the headlights on at night, the fog light switch cluster illuminates, and the switches/rheostats for the theater/courtesy lights, etc, all work. If there's a problem in that switch cluster, it's only with the push-button switch for the fog lights.
I have a good digital multimeter, and would like to check both for voltage at the wire, and for expected continuity when the switch is manipulated. But the switches are all part of a single switch cluster, with about a dozen wires. There are no markings other than the color of the wires, to indicate each wire's function, or the that of each pin.
Does anyone know the pinouts for the fog light switch cluster, on an 00+ Bonneville?
Thanks!

Sorry that this took a while to get to. This is a diagram for a 2000. I don't know for sure if it is the same as a 2004, or not...but it's a start. I may be able to get you the one for 2004 on Monday or Tuesday.
I believe those TSBs to be for the GXP. It had some pretty common problems with the fog lights that you can read about in the GXP section of the forum.

Archon,
Thanks! Your diagram agrees with the following switch cluster pin-out that a member provided to me, on a different forum. I suspect the rest of your schematic agrees with what's actually installed in my '04, as well.

Today is Saturday, I don't have to be anywhere, and the weather is perfect for working on this circuit problem. Thanks again!
