I simply installed a "torque strap" to keep the engine still.
Yes it's probably needed now.....solid motor mounts just won't do from a vibration standpoint. That engine with 3.42 gears really torques.

He really needs to do the mounts. When he came back later, the headers are right down on the sub-frame. We read several posts on other websites and they suggested doing them when the headers were done, but we already had enough going on. It was a good learning experience for us both.

Jordan, if you want, I could come over and give you a hand or we could do it here too. We would just have to work around my work schedule. I don't have the equipment to service the A/C system though. If you are doing the compressor, you will need to have someone evacuate the system first and then do the work and have them service it again later once the work is done.

Get a parts list together of what will / should be replaced while the system is down. Let me know, you have my number.

Parts are here: new A/C compressor, accumulator, orifice tube, motor and trans mounts.

The compressor even came with directions, and for some reason I actually read them! It says that I also need to evacuate the system after I have everything put back together to eliminate moisture and check for leaks, then I can recharge the system. I'll take it to a shop for that part. It also says I need to "add the balance of the oil charge to the accumulator" after adding 2-3 oz of oil into the compressor. Does that mean I have to add the same amount of oil to the accumulator as I put in the compressor?

Heard from buckwheat yesterday. He's going to have a mechanic do the mounts and AC work.

Not a bad idea on the A/C. That's one thing I didn't want to do on my car. Cost a lot more, but it was done right.
Bye Bye:

I just got the car back, yes I wussed out and took it to a shop. Labor cost $940 #-o , but at least I didn't have to deal with the headache and it got done in one day. So far, I haven't heard any header-subframe banging. However, its been raining all day: meaning I can't give the car more than 1/3 throttle without burning out and kicking the rear out sideways. So I haven't been able to give it a full throttle launch to know for sure. Waiting for dry weather.

I just got the Camaro back from Wong's Performace where I got it dyno tuned. Results are 330 wheel hp, and 350 wheel torque; as measured on a Mustang dyno. I also had the post cat o2 sensors and egr valve codes disabled. So all together, with the headers, valve springs, and a tune the car has about 60 more wheel horsepower with a noticeable improvement in part-throttle performance; it runs a lot smoother. I'll be heading to the track as soon as I can, then I'll post quarter mile results.
