Weapon-R Pontiac Bonneville Dragon Intake

I was looking on eBay for an intake system and I managed to stumble upon an intake system I've never heard of or seen before. The company is called Weapon-R and they have an intake system for the 3.8 V6 in Pontiac Bonnevilles. Have any of you people heard about this product? I'd like to know your opinions on it. (Although I'm still going to prefer K&N for now)

Never heard of them, but I will say that they have an interesting recommendation for what years it'll fit. 99-03.

How dumb. I could see 92-99, or 00-05, but not some random selection between the two.

That's an Ebay warm air intake with a nicer filter. You can build your own FWI for the same price. Or gut your airbox and seal it to the opening behind the headlight.

Sorry folks, anything that looks that stupid is obviously marketed for the tuner crowd. Anything marketed for the tuner crowd comes with a general warning from this forum. That think is for looks, and even if it worked, you wouldn't catch me with that ugly thing under my hood. It's a hot-air intake to begin with.

Yes, we carefully test each one of our intakes on the dyno. As you can see, each one gains less than 5hp, which is normal pull-to-pull variation unless 10 or more pulls are averaged. We carefully left the hood open so the real failing of the intake design wouldn't affect the dyno numbers.

Yes. Ummm.......if the filter is in the engine bay, why aren't they testing it with the hood closed? Look carefully at the filter placement. The RX8 has it right behind the radiator. Let me do the math on this.........

No, just a group of people who know these cars well enough to spot people selling worthless parts to take peoples' money.

Here is another one I found from another forum. Note at the bottom they say they will fit an L36 and L67. We all know they are different due to the fuel injector bosses.

If it's seriously cold where you are, modding your airbox to let in warmer air during the winter helps with fuel economy. Warmer air = less fuel = better fuel economy. Also, running one of those cheesy intakes will do the same thing.

I was kidding, & to tell you the truth I didn’t even look at the link & I’m sure that intake is probably junk. Not because is import tuner style, but because is a generic, low quality intake, like most of the ones found on ebay.
But I saw the word ricer used a couple of times you got to admit that is a hater word.

It's actually not a 'cheap ebay intake'. It's a specific brand, marketed heavily.

Bottom line on performance parts is to stay very far away from anything specifically marketed towards import tuners, especially if it has catchy wild product names, flash colors, and wild over-the-top claims. Aside from that, it's best to stay away from any intake that draws hot engine bay air unless you live in a very cold climate and aren't interested in performance as much as mileage (although many of us see an increase in mileage with performance upgrades). You can always save your factory airbox for the winter months.

In this particular case, the $136 would be better put towards a FWI from INTENSE for a mere $50 more, which will give you proven performance, cooler air, proper SILICONE TB adapter instead of an ABS pipe plumbing reducer you can buy from Home Depot, proper TURBO clamps, rather than simple dryer-duct sized hose clamps from Home Depot, it won't have the stupid fitting you have to plug in the wrong spot, and you won't pay for the gaudy freakish sci-fi retro fake chrome plastic guard over the filter. In addition, the FWI from INTENSE isn't made of aluminum that will heatsoak from the crossover pipe, and you don't need the Home Depot plumbing strap or cheap rubber shock mount included with this garbage kit:



Bottom line is that this uses cheap rubber plumbing reducers when they should be silicone, it uses cheap hose clamps when they could be better, it uses aluminum that will heatsoak, you get an ugly filter guard you don't need, and it pulls hot air from the engine bay.

Another good warning sign? Their website links to paypal for ordering. They don't even have a proper storefront ordering system.

People that are importy(asian or euro) that do their cars in good taste and know why they put stuff on there car to boost performance/handling, I call them tuners. Actually thats what most people on here are.

Or someone with money to blow buy one, and then make a stink when it doesn't fit. The latter would have a bigger effect on them.
