Hey, I never posted these... (a day at the dragstrip)

Post by repinS »

So on Canada Day (July 1st) I decided to go to a test & tune at the last minute.

This diesel Ram ran high 13's/low 14's.

The ELC didn't go any higher than this.

I bumped into a former co-worker at the track - she took these pics, and this is what her boyfriend ran, a 1971 Plymouth Scamp with a built 340 popping its track cherry. He ran 13's battling wheel hop all day long.

I bested a 15.679 @ 87.18, taking out a Nissan Altima SE-R who couldn't hook up off the line.

Now I need to re-run with the Yella Terra 1.8 rockers installed  But the ol' 95 is at the trans shop at the moment, getting a TCC Apply Valve / Solenoid problem taken care of.

She looks good at the track! Can't wait to see the numbers with the rockers.

Give me a call for the next track day, Hopefully I can make it.

For sure, sorry about the short notice that day. :(

The rockers feel great, even Liz noticed that the power delivery up in the higher revs was MUCH better, the car sounds less strained and out of breath. Midrange punch for passing on the highway is also really really great. And I can't make a conclusion yet, but I am quite certain that I'm seeing an increase in fuel economy as well.

I haven't done any sort of porting work, but I think somewhere down the line it'll happen to really take advantage of the extra flow.

Stock pulley? What was the weather like, have you done a tuneup since you got it? ET/mph seem a tick off

Only mod at the time was an intake.. on which the heat shield isn't very good or effective, IAT's are pretty high. Down the road I'll be getting some FWI tubing and retaining the same filter.

Weather was 68-72F
Elevation is 600'

When doing my rockers a few weeks later I did notice a single small vacuum line (for the HVAC vent position) popped off. Don't know what that might have to do with it...
