New Purchase from California!!!

Post by catladykaren »

I know that it was risky but I took a chance and purchased a 1993 Bonneville SSEI sight unseen. :btruestory: Image
The dealer I purchased it from was cool and held the car for me so I could travel from Minnesota to California to pick it up. I flew on June 29th and arrived in Sacramento. I Had to wait until the next morning to pick up the car. I than had to deal with the CA DMV for Hours to get the car titled so I could drive it. I knew there was issues with the car and they were taken care of when I took possession. One major issue was a bad pulley. :helpsmilie: I had a replacement with me which was replace right away. Than the alternator went out and luckily I also had one of those with me as well. =D>

Since I was In CA for the first time I decided to go to San Francisco and see the golden gate bridge.:hello2: Image After staying a day there I headed East. I decided I really wanted to go to a junk yard near Sacramento and spent a day there. Getting the parts I needed for my other vehicles I was ready to hit the open road. :)

I decided My trip would include a stop in SD and Mount Rushmore so I set the GPS and started driving. Being alone I knew that many stops would be in order for rest and food.

I passed thru Reno and saw the casino lights at night.

Now being the kind of person I am I picked up Tucker, my now new friend. :talk: He was traveling/hitching across the country from California to Maine. He traveled with me from Reno to Minnesota.

From Reno we continued on to the Bonneville salt flats in Utah Image and the great Salt Lake, Imagethru the mountains Imageand into SD. We saw Crazy horse Imageand Mount Rushmore, ImageWall Drug and the Great Corn Palace. We than were in Minnesota. I said good bye to Tucker who wanted to continue on his trek and headed north to central Minnesota and home.

Now you may think my trip ends here. Well in many way it did. I made it home and the car is wonderful. BUT, I wasnt home for even a week when the police decided that a nice CA car was to much for Minnesota and they had to pull me over. :angry1: Now Im not going to go into what happened. Lets just say that it is over with.

It was a trip that will be with me forever in my mind and pictures. What a great country we live in to be able to drive and see all the great states and sight. :usa:

Welcome Karen!!!! Whereabouts in MN are you? I'm in Fairfax, about an hour northwest of Mankato.

Sounds like you had an amazing trip, I would love to do that. Harofreak00 did a similar trip in a 2005 GXP he bought last spring.
Bye Bye:

(off topic)

Sorry Rod. It was a quick breeze through to tend to some family business on the way to LA. We had very little time. I didn't even let my old friends in Davis know I was coming, since I knew we were so pressed with our schedule.

I'll fill you in on the details later.

Sounds like a great trip and that the car was worth it. It's great to hear from another 'sotan. I'm in St. Cloud, about an hour and change from you.
