Plugs and Wires

Post by Sadden »

A month ago I bought NGK plugs and i was going to grab the wires this month.
On Saturday i started up and it was idling like it was missing a cylinder or maybe 2.
Limped it home from work (1km away)
Pulled it into the shop and diagnosed.
Coil Packs were sparking good (ask dad about that one)
Wires were garbage.
Pulled the plugs and to my surprise (not) they were shot.
Front ones were cooked sooooooo bad.
Back ones weren't to bad at all.
Looks like they hadn't been changed in at least 100k....
I know its part of your regular maintenance.
I was going to do them as soon as i got wires :l
Bear in mind i bought the car used with 250,000 km on it.

Seeing as i already have NGK (TR55 Platinum) plugs what wires do you all recommend?
My source has AC Delco and something called blue-streak or some such?

Recommendations?
Sorry for the long post.

Platinum is not a good idea for the L67. Stick to TR55 V-Power copper (cheap, replace more often) or the TR55IX iridium.

I run AC Delco premium (8mm) wires and am happy with them.

Why are the platinum bad?

While we are here does anyone have the P/N for the adjustable shift modulator for our trannies?
Ive called 4 auto stores and 3 of them hadn't even heard of such a part..... :angry7:

Platinum holds more heat than copper and iridium, and can act like a glow plug, causing knock.

Stock: Iridium

Any mods: Copper; in the 3800 world.

I am using MSD wires, I have used the blue streak ones too, in other vehicles and I like them, they have a lifetime warranty.

I am using the ac delco plugs in mine
Tinted 13% Front 3% Rear, MSD Coils and Wires, K&N drop in air and oil filter...more to come as things wear/break!!

Tint it so dark, you won't even know your name

Now installed Copper TR55's and Bluestreak Plugs.
Still has a terrible idle.
See my other thread.
