Steering Wheel Removal Question for 90 SSE

Post by limabee »

My 90 has buttons all over it. How do you remove the button interface to remove the steering wheel main nut?

Thanks

Check the back of the steering wheel. Make sure there are no holes. If there are none, than just get you a fine flat edge, they just pop out I believe. It has been so long though...

That link and thread was great. However... :) The very beginning process where you pop off the Pontiac cover pad to get to the main wheel nut, that pad on mine is covered with electronic buttons for temperature control, fan, mode, radio, volume, preset etc etc etc... I want to remove those buttons without damaging them and wondered how that came out. Or do they pop off as one whole unit?

The whole pad of buttons pops out, and then unplugs. If you have a VERY dull butter knife, that would likely be perfect to work them out with.

Did you get it out yet? I was hoping for how you did it just so we know for the future.

Going to do it tomorrow morning. I'll find the digital camera and take pictures that can be viewed for posterity. BTW... how do you attach photo's right into the body of the post?
