It also depends on coverage in the area. If you are in a less densely populated area, the radio reception will be worse due to a farther proximity to the station towers.
In Chicago, I get amazing coverage with both my car's built in antenna, and in our Toyota's whip antenna.

Re: Time to let the secret out...
Paul, both my car and my friend's Nova (72) with antennas in the windshield get way better reception than standard antenna'd vehicles....
I live in the mountains and know better than that!
The higher/taller, the better. Windshield antennas suck.

Re: Time to let the secret out...
Most dipole antennas are engineered to be half the size of a wavelength.. for FM radio that's 4.5-5.5 feet long. Reception with the windshield antennas is pretty flaky on my car.

Well, Mick couldn't wait to start modding the car, the games have begun. And to think I liked her exactly as she was.

Re: Time to let the secret out...
If I had to guess, probably a mod that came with the car. And if it's what I'm thinking it is....I wondered how long it would take for him to put it in. I know I would have.

Re: Time to let the secret out...
Nope. It's a cheap mod (around 40 bucks) but it was never installed by the previous owner. CAGS eliminator harness.

Re: Time to let the secret out...
Oooohhhh. I forgot those cars have those. For those who don't know, at light throttle the car makes you skip from first to fourth to "improve mileage" but since that's really goofy, most people bypass it. All it takes is two connectors with the wires in the middle that bypass the sensor.

Re: Time to let the secret out...
Hi, Brad, hope all is going well and glad to hear from you as I know you're always busy. Please say hi to your family for me as I miss them already.
Good guess re the CAGS and Mick will most likely take care of that one (as well as the dash light that comes on with it), through the aid of a tuner, but has yet to find someone that has one. I believe the charge here to do that mod is between $50.- $100. and it's all done through the tuner without the harness that came with the car. If I would have know you (Brad) could have probably modded it with your tuner while the car was at your place.
The mod he just did was install a C6 shifter to replace the C5 stock shifter. Stay tuned for next weeks mod.

Until he's 25 I guess, it's frustrating how insurance is in Ontario Canada.
