1995 Bonneville - Starter Problem

Post by pappyl »

Battery is good, Pulled the plastic guard.
Can hear the plunger engage, but the starter doesn't wind up. So I think its just the starter.

Now, how the heck to pull that starter? Has anyone pulled one?
There's a shock absorber for the engine - looks like we have to pull that as well just to get that out.

Anyone have some steps to swap this out easily?

Appreciate any help on this one

Thanks - not a lot of room here.

I'll attempt to pull it today.

I found it easier pulling the starter from the top of the engie, too much junk blocking it coming from the bottom. I remember that I had to undo the right cooling fan too but that was only a couple of 10mm bolts I believe. Careful about the starter wires and undo your battery!

When I changed my 95s starter, it was easy.
Dropped right down after removing the bolts and wiring.
