Re: Intak gaskets done and Running!!
With the maf sensors. I tried removing it before but it seems very fragile and I was afraid of breaking it so I just left it alone.
My question is can u just pull it out or do u have to turn it or jiggle it or something because it didn't want to come out?
I'll get back with the code a little later today.
Also if it is the o2 and if getting from junkyard how do u know if the jy one is any good?
Also no I don't have access to a scan tool.

Re: Intak gaskets done and Running!!
You'll have access to a scantool when you go get the code pulled.
You can't tell if a JY O2 is good or not.
There is an o-ring around the base of the sensor inside the TB. After you remove the screws, just gently twist it back and forth and it'll come out.

The flexible tube that runs from the EGR to the manifold becomes quite fragile with age. You could have a crack there that's giving you a vacuum leak. I'd check the code first but you might want to pull the EGR & give that tube a careful look. PCV is installed?

Quick PCV check: Pull the oil fill cap at idle. Put your hand over the hole. What do you feel/hear?

Re: Intak gaskets done and Running!!
Just got back. Guy said it has a random cylinder misfire and the throttle position sensor is going bad.
Will check pcv right now
with oil cap off it kinda howls a little and when u put your hand over the hole u can feel it sucking in.
Yes the pcv is installed and when u have the oil cap on the idle goes up take it off idle he's down

Re: Intak gaskets done and Running!!
Your PCV is either bad or you missed one of the 2 o-rings.
Check your plug wire connections, but the random misfire could be from too lean due to the vac leak past the PCV.

If you take a look at this article in Techinfo: Change UIM/LIM Gaskets ...you will find photos and descriptions of the PCV o-rings and the MAF, and how to remove and install.94SilverSSEi wrote:Could u explain the 2 orings where are they located?

Shake the PCV valve & make sure it has a nice metallic rattle. If not spray some carb cleaner in & give it a good shake, repeat 2 or 3 times. Any doubt then replace it, 3 or 4 dollars.

Oh shoot!! We put the Oring for the bottom of the pcv on the hose That plugs into the back of the plenum.
Also yeah it rattles just fine.

Re: Intak gaskets done and Running!!
That could explain your idle and misfire issues. But it could be other causes too. In any event, the incorrect PCV installation WAS causing you issues.

Re: Intak gaskets done and Running!!
Ok. So by spraying throttle body cleaner over all vacuum lines. I found out that the hose that the plug that goes into the back of the plenum fronted break booster has vacuum leak.
Probably from using wrong oring.
All other vacuum lines seem good though.
Also is the vacuum leak what is causing the suction issues when putting oil cap on and off?

Re: Intak gaskets done and Running!!
No. If you have high vacuum at the filler cap, that means you have an internal vacuum leak from manifold vacuum to crank case pressure. These two areas of the engine should be sealed off from one another with only one (if any) path to each other. That path is the PCV valve. If it is malfunctioning or miss installed in this particular engine, it will cause very noticable problems.

Suction at the oil fill port is from your confirmed incorrect PCV installation (to put it another way).

A parts store should have what you need. Bring the PCV with you if necessary.
Or go to a junkyard and get what you need.

Re: Intak gaskets done and Running!!
Yeah I just might have to make a trip to the jy bc my Console is getting annoying.
Edit: Drove it again tonight and it seems the chugging is better but its still not fixed. Its doesnt chug as much where before u could see the RPM gauge going up and down now the RPM gauge barely moves but I can still feel it chugging i a little. I ran a bunch of carb cleaner through it and burned it all out

If the chugging is still there after taking care of the PCV issue, I still say test the rear three cylinders.
