Vacuum Line to Charcoal Canister

Post by bmsgaffer86 »

So I was driving the other day, and my car shifted funny. But it only happened once, then upon starting and warming up the car the next day there was a bad smell. :booty:

Long story short, turns out the exhaust manifold did its thing :flame: to the plastic vacuum line heading to the charcoal canister. It severed it clear off (which explains the funny shift) then took care of sealing it right off for me (why it never happened again). So no vacuum leak.

Thats all well and good, but its too cold outside to worry about fixing it now if I don't have to :sleepy3: . So what kind of problems am I looking at if this vacuum line is left disconnected (but not leaking)? I know what the canister is and generally what it does but I am not sure about what problems it could cause. I swear up and down that the performance of the car actually improved after its 'self-modification'. :-k

Your thoughts are appreciated!

My first thought is trans modulator hose. Are you sure it's the char canister? I'm sure it is, but maybe not, but if that trans hose was shot you would have bad shifts. Let us know.
