Why no boost gauge in the 04+ GP's?

Isn't it in the DIC on those cars? You don't really need it, anyways. All the factory boost gauge is good for is telling you whether you are making boost or not. It's almost worthless. My aeroforce is way more accurate than my factory boost gauge.

It's in the DIC, under the gauges setting. Funny thing though...those GPs have a very useless gauge setting...engine hours. Who the hell needs to know THAT??

Our suburban has one if you push and hold the trip reset stalk while it's off. Our Duramax truck also has one. It's mainly important in diesel engines, and older tractors and the like, for maintenance. Tractors, large equipment, etc, go by engine hours, because miles is a bad descriptor of the work they do. Most of them spend half their time idling for one purpose or another, or are stationary for their uses.

IE: On our Duramax, we change the fuel filter every 500 engine hours, or 15k miles, whichever comes first. Also all of our tractors get oil changes every 100 hours or 1x a year, whichever comes first, as well as our backup generator for our farm.

So on a GP? Hour gauge doesn't mean much. But there is a purpose for them.

Oh I see... I figured they would have put it in the open to tell from a glance if it's boosted or not.

If you're driving/own it and don't know it's not boosted, you're not going to watch the boost gauge anyways........

The boost gauge in GP's are illustrated with a digital bar graph thing...its pretty lousy.

I'm pretty sure the 97-03 has the same bar graph on the DIC as well.
