John, we have two of them.....drive shaft, half shaft, same difference.

But they are so short, how are you gonna put a hoop on it that would do anything for safety? Are hoops needed on the axles of RWD cars? Even if they do, they are still much longer.

The reason Driveshaft loops are needed is to prevent damage from the driveshaft falling off at 100+ mph on the track. our halfshafts won't drag on the ground and cause the kind of damage a RWD driveshaft will.

A driveshaft can actually pole vault the car at speed if it were to come away at the transmission. The loop is there to hold it off the ground if that occurs.

Actually, the chances of the driveshaft pushing the car up are remote. The bigger danger is the shaft intruding into the cabin if it catches on the ground and bends upward.

Still costs less to have a driveshaft loop than to buy a new car.

Inexpensive insurance policy as far as I see it. We have installed a few at work in the past, on the Driveline shop side.

The operators are also concerned about the track surface too.


FWD axles aren't pointed the correct way for any real damage, and are generally somewhat tucked inside suspension.
