Thanks! It's such a nice ride and just sips gas. I filled up the tank and drove it to my dad's house in Michigan which is about a 110 mile ride and drove back the same day and still had over half a tank!

Nice! I like the black on black. I had a 2003 GSX R 1000 and can honestly say, that is a bad azz machine.

Congrats!!! Take it easy with that bike -as you know and probably have heard 999,999 times already:

1. It's a crotchrocket and will always be in the center of an officer line of vision, just like a red Ferrari.
2. It's a crotchrocket, with a BIG motor, which makes excessive speeding and any other type of 'show-boating' (probably a little more aggressive word than I mean to use).
3. Make safe decisions and ENJOY!!!!!

That being said, I too plan on a bike this spring/summer (just like I have for the past 3 yrs). I'll probably end up with a mid 80's Yamaha Seca or something (650 turbo is what I'm hoping to find).

Thanks! Yeah I've heard that all before, but I'm not really the one to showboat while driving ON the road.. In a empty parking lot, maybe (if no cops are around  )..lol. I'm a really cautious rider though. I've had a few bikes and this is by far the fastest one and plan on keeping this one as long as I can so I'm just going to baby it. Congrats on hopefully getting a bike! They are a lot of fun no matter what kind you get. I'd like to get a nice Harley next but with the economy the way it is, all I can do right now is dream

Thanks, thats what really got my attention with this bike! The gxrs are all really nice bikes!!

Welllllllllll the day I got it, I got it up to 120 on the open highway but didnt want to go any faster for to much longer as I didn't want to get pulled over at that speed and lose my bike and license (thats if I would have slowed down for the cop   ) But congrats on getting a Katana and theres nothing wrong with a small engine bike. I started off with just a little 2001 Kawasaki Ninja 250 as my starter bike back when I was 16 and just gradually got bigger bikes as my riding skills progressed. I might stick with the 1000 for quite a while, its quite fast enough for me  Good luck on learning. It's fairly simple once you get the hang of it! The only problem I had at first was letting the clutch out slowly and giving it enough throttle to get going, I stalled quite a few times but you'll get the hang of it! You should post some pics of the Katana!!

Nothing wrong with that. I started on dirt bikes, and old beater Yamaha 125cc cruiser and a '88 Honda VTR250 before moving up to the CBR600F. Went on to liter bikes, then went back to the middleweight sport bikes. (better balance of power, weight, and handling IMHO).

If you haven't taken one yet, find a local MSF rider course. Worth the time in most cases.

Nice bike! Glad to see that you aren't a beginner to this because alot of people go for that jump right to it to think there cool. Love the color scheme though I have it on my 2 06 GSXR-600. One is a race track bike other is just to cruise, always thought of going higher but I love the lightness it helps when we get to have a parking lot blocked off and have a little fun. But I think a 750 might be coming sooner then I know since I might be getting a steal on a 07 GSXR-750 red/blue theme.

Good gixxer forum that I am apart of it GIXXER.com...really laid back, and very helpful. Alot of cool easy mods and always helpful. Another cool thing is they have every month I belive a contest, for example moto gp race you had to pick who you think would place 1-6, who ever got the closest won free suspension from I forget what site brand new. Awesome stuff.

Be safe!

Dang that sounds like a good forum to me if I could have a chance of winning free suspension :) Thanks for that site! As for the 1000, yeah its a great bike with a lot of power but like you said having a lighter one is nice. I had a Gixxer 750 but gave it to my older brother. Here's a pic of the 750
Image

It was a really great bike but finally thought I could get a 1000 and saved up the money for it. The 1000 is such a nice ride and extremely fast!!! Have you done any mods to your bikes yet? I'm going to keep mine stock for a while until I can get some money saved up first before I start blowing it all on the bike.

Nice bike,
I have many miles(over 100,000) on bikes over the last 41 years. They can be so much fun but you have to use your head when your on the bike. I lost a friend on a bike(he was decapitated) when he let his guard down and went to fast and could not stop in time.
This web site is not pretty but it's not supposed to be, I had my kids look at this site before they got their bikes.
http://home1.gte.net/res0ak9f/bike.htm

Get your riding gear and use it ATGATT (all the gear all the time)
Here is a couple of sites that have good prices
http://www.newenough.com/
and
http://www.motorcyclecloseouts.com/
Go to HOT DEALS and CLOSEOUTS for the best prices
I got this jacket and it fits good and offers good protection when I ride in the winter, I wear a mesh jacket in the summer.
http://www.newenough.com/closeouts/leat ... acket.html
For $79 you can't go wrong and you can still find it on the net for over $300

Again, have fun with the new bike

Thanks for those websites Don! I'm actually going out to ride out to California this summer for maybe a week so I'm def. going to hit up some of those roads on that site! As for the gear, I got everything already. I've lost friends to accidents before and I've been in a few to know the consequences of not wearing gear. Luckily I didn't have any major injuries, just broken hand, bruised ribs, and A LOT of road rash. Thought I would be cool when I got my first bike and only wear a helmet as it's the law in Michigan and was doing about 65mph and some old lady just pulled out of her driveway without looking and I hit the brakes and lost control. After that, I started wearing protective jackets. Now every time I go ride, even if it's just down the road, I suit up! What kind of bikes did you have?

Moped :bluetwitch: Just kidding.
I have had several street bikes, the first one was a '63 Honda 150 Dream got that one in '68.
Then moved up to the '70 Honda 750-4 in '71
Most of my bikes were dirt bikes, my first one was a 1967 Hodaka Ace 90 bought new in '67
The last bike I raced was the '76 YZ 250, that was a fun bike in its day.
My stock '04 DR 250 has such a nice suspension compared to the '76 YZ I used to race, it's like a rocking chair.
Here are some pic's that I took last mouth

Those are some great pictures!! I like that bike to! I've had a few dirtbikes as well. Started racing when I was 11. I don't race now, just like to so in the trails and up to the dunes in Michigan. I have a 2006 Yamaha YZF 450. It's a powerful yet really fun bike. I'm going to start saving money for a Harley V Rod. My buddy has one of those and it's such a great cruiser. He's riding a long with me and a few others across the country this summer. It's going to be a good time.
